As an Independent Contractor (1099) Delivery Driver specializing in perishable food, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and timely delivery of perishable food items from the distribution center or supplier to designated delivery locations. You play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and freshness of the food products during transportation. This position requires attention to detail & adherence to food safety standards.
Responsibilities:

  1. Transportation of Perishable Food Items: Safely and securely transport perishable food items, such as fresh produce, dairy products, and frozen goods, from the distribution center or supplier to various delivery locations.

  2. Loading and Unloading: Handle perishable food items with care during loading and unloading processes to prevent damage or spoilage. Ensure proper temperature control and packaging to maintain freshness.

  3. Delivery Coordination: Coordinate delivery schedules with dispatchers or supervisors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of perishable food items to customers or retail establishments.

  4. Temperature Monitoring: Monitor and maintain appropriate temperature levels inside the delivery vehicle to preserve the freshness and quality of perishable food items throughout transit.

  5. Customer Interaction: Provide courteous and professional customer service during deliveries, including greeting customers, verifying delivery details, and addressing any concerns or inquiries related to the delivered food items.

  6. Communication: Maintain open communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or any issues that may arise during transit.

  7. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents during transit, such as vehicle breakdowns or temperature deviations, taking appropriate actions to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of perishable food items.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  2. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols for handling perishable food items.

  3. Time management and organizational skills.

  4. Ability to lift and move heavy objects.

  5. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
