Want to get into those pears and can’t wait for 'em to ripen? Store your pears in a closed paper bag at room temperature to speed ‘em up.

Pears are one of the few fruits that don’t ripen on the tree. They ripen from the inside out once they’ve been picked. To test for ripeness, gently press arond the stem - if it gives, the pear is likely ready to eat (or very close).

If you miss the window when the pear is at peak ripeness and it’s a little soft around the middle, it’s still got a lot of good left - use it as a great addition to soups or smoothies!
